Full-length JLPT-format practice exam — real section timing & scoring rules
How this exam works
Each section has its own countdown timer, exactly matching the real JLPT N5 timing. When a section's time runs out, it locks automatically and the exam moves on — just like the real test.
In the Vocabulary and Grammar/Reading sections you may move freely between questions using the question map on the left.
In the Listening section, questions play one at a time using your browser's built-in Japanese text-to-speech. In the real exam audio plays only once — for realistic practice, try to answer after the first play before using Replay.
Scoring mirrors the official two-part JLPT scale: Language Knowledge/Reading out of 120, Listening out of 60 (180 total). Passing requires the overall total and both section minimums to be met — falling short on just one section fails the exam even with a high total.
